As of April the 1st 2015 medicare brought out a new coding system for physiotherapy services. The initials sessions, follow ups and classes were included in this change.
Below are the new codes and descriptions of services for you. Our previous coding of 560 is no longer applicable for our style of classes.
You can refer to this wording below if there are any problems with you health fund in the future.
Code #500 Assessment Consultation (initial assessment)
Code #505 Subsequent Consultation ( private session)
Code # 561 Class Consultation (NEW CODE AS OF 1/5/15) -common interventions provided to a number of clients simultaneously . A class consultation follows an assessment consultation .Appropriate clinical records must be kept for each person in the class.
Code # 560 Group consultation (previous code used which covered all group sessions)- A small group of clients are provided with different interventions. A group consultation follows an assessment consultation. It includes but is not limited to pre intervention assessment and individually designed intervention and re assessment during the consultation. Clinical records must be kept for each person in the group.
NB As a guide , only groups are less than 6 clients.
