With all the sitting down that we do in our modern lives it is important that we keep our hips open and able to move into extension. Hip flexor stretches are a great way to maintain both hip mobility but also help the spine as some of the deep hip flexors also attach onto the lumbar spine.
read the instructions carefully and avoid squeezing the glutes to open the hips and this can cause potential damage to the hip capsule.
Perform a stretch regularly throughout the day, especially if sitting alot. Drip feeding motion in has a more profound affect than just 1 session.
Opening the hip flexors can also aid digestion due to the close proximity of the deep hip flexors and the large bowel…….another good reason the open those hips !
